The detail

What you should know.

Description

Cagrilintide is a long-acting analog of amylin, a hormone that works alongside insulin to signal fullness. It is studied for appetite and body-weight regulation, often alongside GLP-1 peptides.

It is investigational and supplied strictly for research use.

How it works: Cagrilintide mimics amylin, studied for promoting satiety and slowing gastric emptying — a mechanism complementary to (and often combined with) GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide.

Researched to support: fullness signalling, pairs well, weekly cadence.

Quality: Lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder, supplied for research use only. Our manufacturers carry out their own batch testing; we do not independently verify those results or issue certificates of analysis, so we back every order with our purity guarantee instead.

How to use

Reconstitute: Use bacteriostatic water. Add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial and let it dissolve for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not shake.

Administer: Subcutaneous, usually with an insulin syringe.

Dose example: A 5 mg vial reconstituted with 1 ml gives 0.5 mg per 0.1 ml (10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe).

Store: Keep the powder cool and dry. Once reconstituted, store at 2 to 8 °C and use within about 28 days.

Research dosing protocols

In clinical studies cagrilintide was given subcutaneously, once weekly, with gradual titration:

  • Dosing steps up gradually over several weeks.
  • Gradual increases help limit early gastrointestinal effects.
  • Studied both alone and combined with a GLP-1 peptide.

Describes dosing used in clinical research, provided as reference only — not a usage recommendation or medical advice. This is an investigational research compound.

Clinical studies

Combination research: Cagrilintide has been studied both alone and combined with semaglutide (CagriSema), where the combination produced greater average weight loss than either component alone in Phase 2 work.

Amylin pathway: As an amylin analog, it is studied for satiety signalling that adds to incretin-based approaches.

Development status: Cagrilintide is investigational and not an approved medicine; supplied strictly as a research peptide.

Side effects & safety

Frequently described

  • Nausea
  • Reduced appetite
  • Injection-site reactions

Less frequently described

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea / constipation

Precautions / risks

  • Allergic / hypersensitivity reaction
  • Long-term safety data still accumulating
  • Combining with a GLP-1 can increase GI effects

Digestive effects are the most common and usually ease with gradual titration. Scientific reference only, not usage instructions.

FAQs
What are peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids (2 to 50) that act as signalling molecules. Ours are supplied for laboratory research.

What's included in my order?

The vial contains lyophilised powder only. You also need bacteriostatic water, a sterile syringe, and a needle. We stock bacteriostatic water under Supplies.

How do I reconstitute the peptide?

Add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial, then let it dissolve for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not shake.

How should I store it?

Keep the powder cool and dry. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8 °C and use within about 28 days.

How are peptides administered?

Most are administered subcutaneously with an insulin syringe, for slow, steady absorption. A few formulations use other routes.

When do effects appear?

It varies by peptide and protocol. Some are researched over a few days, others over several weeks.

Do I need to see a doctor?

A prescription is not required, but we recommend speaking with your doctor, especially if you have a medical condition or take other medication.

Are your peptides tested?

Our manufacturers carry out their own batch testing, but we do not test independently and do not hold certificates of analysis — so we make no purity claim of our own. We back it with a guarantee instead: if you want a vial independently tested, contact us first, we’ll agree a laboratory and pay for the test. If the result doesn’t match the label, we cover the testing cost and replace the product.
